Civil litigation defense attorney for Oregon churches and religious schools - Kaempf Law Firm

Employment Defense Litigation

For over 20 years, John Kaempf has defended Oregon employers in lawsuits brought by employees claiming employment discrimination.

In 2003, John won a case for a Christian school filed against it by a teacher it fired for admittedly violating its religious doctrine. The teacher sought instatement to her job and money damages. The court dismissed the case before trial because, as John argued, the Free Exercise of Religion clause of the First Amendment prohibits secular courts from second-guessing faith-based employment decisions. He has also successfully defended numerous employment discrimination lawsuits against secular Oregon employers.
